An intensive and demanding course containing two parts:

• pre-course e-learning

• one day workshop including simulation, workshops, short lectures, anatomical heart dissection and clinical challenging cases

Learning objective:

To provide basic echocardiographic skills for cardiothoracic anesthesiologists, surgeons and cardiologists in order to perform a correct comprehensive TEE examination.

8.30-10.15 TEE-simulation: The most used 2D TEE standard views and assessment of myocardial ischemia

10.15-10.30 Break with coffee

10.30-11.30 Aortic valve panel: 2D assessment, highlights and pathology

11.30-12.00 Lunch

12.00-13.00 The mitral valve: 2D assessment, highligths and pathology

13.00-14.00 Anatomical dissection of the heart (pet-lab)

14.00-14.15 Break with coffee

14.15-15.15 Clinical scenario training and certification

15.15-15.30 Evaluation and discussions
